The Winnipeg Ice have been sold and will be relocating from Winnipeg to Washington state.

Winnipeg Ice To Relocate To America

The Winnipeg Ice have been phenomenal of late. Finishing 1st place in the WHL last season, they have been quite the story. Boasting first-round talents like Matthew Savoie (9th overall), Conor Geekie (11th overall), Carson Lambos(26th overall), and Zach Benson (ranked #6 for the 2023 NHL draft).
Despite their talent, it has been announced that the Ice have been sold and will be moving to Wenatchee, Washinton.
The Ice will be the 6th WHL to play in America joining the Everett Silvertips, Tri-City Americans, Seattle Thunderbirds, Spokane Chiefs, and the Portland Winterhawks.
This is a huge blow to Canadian CHL prowess as more teams may be relocating to North America soon diversifying the CHL even more. This also introduces some instability with the Winnipeg Jets because it shows how even with successful teams, they could leave for America for more financial success.
