The Montreal Canadiens shocked the hockey world when they selected Logan Mailloux 31st overall in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft. Mailloux had previously asked teams to not draft him given the controversy surrounding him at the time, yet Montreal still chose to spend a first-round pick on him. Mailloux has come a long way since then, but is it enough to allow him to play in the NHL?

Mailloux Will Meet With Bettman

According to Canadiens insider Renaud Lavoie, prospect Logan Mailloux will have a meeting with NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman over the summer to discuss his eligibility at the NHL level.

Mailloux has already signed his entry-level deal with Montreal but is not currently eligible to play in the NHL due to his conviction of a crime in Sweden back in 2020.

While Mailloux has seen a counselor thanks to the help of Montreal's front office, many fans wonder if he's put in the work to deserve a spot in the NHL. Only time will tell, but this meeting will be very important for Mailloux and the Canadiens.
