The Vegas Golden Knights are home to the player with the longest active iron man streak in the NHL, which also happens to be the all-time iron man record. With their game against Winnipeg tonight set to start shortly, it looks as though he will be scratched for the first time since 2009.

Vegas to Scratch Kessel

Phil Kessel is the NHL's all time record holder for most consecutive games played, currently standing at 1,064 games. It looks like Vegas will be scratching the veteran forward tonight, thus unofficially ending his streak. While his iron man streak only applies to regular season games, Kessel's streak for consecutive games played including playoffs will end tonight.

Phil Kessel has not missed an NHL game since October 31, 2009. That includes playing in the first shift of a game, then flying to witness the birth of his child. Kessel's commitment to his record is truly admirable, and it's sad to see such a legendary streak come to an end.
