It's no secret that the end is near for Patrice Bergeron in the NHL.
He contemplated retirement last year, and the 2003 2nd rounder may go out on top after a record-breaking regular season.
Having grown up two hours from Montreal, Bergeron grew up a Nordiques fan, but since their relocation, has changed to become a Habs supporter.
His father has as well. Unfortunately, his father is now dealing with cancer, and Bergeron wanted to play for him ‘at home' one last time.
Patrice Bergeron's father is battling cancer. He wanted to play in front of his father in Montreal for possibly the last time. Even wanted to go back out there after he went to the room. I'm told that doesn't matter. Shouldn't have played. Wow. I'm stunned and at a loss for words
Knowing Bergeron's incredible character, it is no surprise he made this decision. Whether the Bruins go on to win another Stanley Cup, or fall in the first round, Patrice Bergeron will always be a legend.
