There has been plenty of backlash over the 48 hours after San Jose Sharks goaltender James Reimer said he wouldn't participate and wear the team's 'Pride Night' warmup jerseys because it goes against his religious beliefs.

Reimer's former general manager and You Can Play advocate Brian Burke released a statement after the goaltender's refusal to wear 'Pride Night' jerseys on Saturday night.

"I repeat that I am extremely disappointed. I wish players would understand that the Pride sweaters are about inclusion and welcoming everybody. A player wearing Pride colours or tape isn't endorsing a set of values or enlisting in a cause! He is 'saying you are welcome here'. And, you are, in every single NHL building." Burke said.

So far this season, we've had two players refuse to wear their team's 'Pride Night' jerseys and at least two teams, Minnesota and the New York Rangers, that didn't wear their uniforms in warmup at all.
