A game played in Prince Edward Island has sparked a lot of debate after the winning team refused to shake hands with the loser in a semi-final. The Alberta Golden Bears left the ice without shaking hands with UPEI, the host team of the University Cup Championship. Their head coach said after the game that his players simply didn't feel safe on the ice after a couple of incidents involving perceived cheap shots.

In the third period, a member of UPEI's team skated into the Golden Bears' goalie, a move Alberta seemed to feel was intentional.

During the ensuing scrum, the Golden Bears' goalie took a clear cheap shot punch to the face.

That incident led to this, Alberta leaving the ice at the end of the game without any hand shakes, as is always customary at these tournaments.

Alberta Golden Bears head coach Ian Herbers said, as far as he's concerned, UPEI players "posed a risk" and his players "didn't feel safe."

There's been no word yet on any possible punishments for anyone involved in the game.
