The Montreal Canadiens announced on Wednesday that they agreed to terms on a two-year, entry-level contract worth $1.55 million ($775,000) with college prospect Jayden Struble. The contract will begin next season.

Struble, 21, was drafted by the Canadiens in the second round back in 2019 and it was unclear if he was going to sign with Montreal or become an unrestricted free agent on August 15th. Once it was announced he was returning to Northeastern University for this season, many thought he wouldn't sign, but he opted to do so, waiting until his last year of eligibility.

In 31 games this season, the Cumberland (Rhode Island) native had 12 points (one goal, 11 assists), 56 penalty minutes and was a minus-eight.

In their press release, the Canadiens also announced that Struble will sign an AHL contract and join the Laval Rocket for the remainder of the 2022-23 season to help them in their playoff push.
