According to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, the Chicago Blackhawks have placed recently acquired forward prospect Pavel Gogolev on unconditional waivers for the purpose of contract termination. He had one year remaining on his entry-level contract beyond the 2022-23 season.

Gogolev, 23, was acquired by the Blackhawks on February 27th from the Maple Leafs in a deal that sent Jake McCabe and Sam Lafferty to Toronto.

The Moscow native signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the Maple Leafs in the summer of 2021 as an undrafted free agent out of the Ontario Hockey League. He spent parts of four seasons in the OHL with Peterborough and Guelph.

Gogolev played the majority of the 2022-23 season in the ECHL with the Newfoundland Growlers, putting up 48 points (21 goals, 27 assists) in 33 games. Following his trade to Chicago, he was assigned to the AHL's Rockford IceHogs, recording one goal in three games.
