Predators forward Filip Forsberg is an avid soccer/football fan, supporting Liverpool FC in the English Premier League. But now the 28-year-old has decided to join an ownership group of a professional club.

This week, it was announced that Forsberg, along with NBA star Giannis Antetokounmpo, are joining the ownership group of Major League Soccer club, Nashville SC.

"Nashville is the best sports city in the country, and I am extremely blessed to now be involved with two of our pro teams," said Forsberg. "Our city is one big family and fanbase, and we support each other on and off the field. Nashville SC has been such a great addition to our sports culture, and joining the ownership group was an opportunity I wasn't going to pass up. I grew up a Liverpool FC fan in Sweden, and after today I am happy to add a second set of colors to cheer for!"

Forsberg isn't the first NHLer to join the ownership group or buy a stake in a professional soccer/football club. Last summer, his fellow countryman, Victor Hedman, along with Devils forward Ondrej Palat, became part owners of Plymouth Argyle FC, who play in the third tier in England, League One.

Nashville SC joined the MLS in 2020 and are currently in their fourth season. They won their opening match of the 2023 MLS season, defeating New York City FC, 2-0 and are set to face New York Red Bulls on Saturday night.
