TRADE - Oilers acquire 11-year veteran forward from Arizona

The Edmonton Oilers announced on Thursday that they've acquired 11-year veteran forward Nick Bjugstad and defenceman Cam Dineen from the Arizona Coyotes.

In exchange, the Coyotes have received a 2023 third-round pick and defenceman Michael Kesselring in return. The Coyotes are also retaining 50% of Bjugstad's salary.

Bjugstad, 30, was in his first year with the Coyotes after signing with them on the opening day of free agency in July 2022. In 59 games this season, the Minneapolis native has 23 points (13 goals, ten assists), 26 penalty minutes and is a plus-seven. He's set to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1st.

Dineen, 24, was drafted by the Coyotes in the third round in 2016. After appeared in 34 games for Arizona last campaign, he's played for them at all this year, spending all season in the AHL with Tucson. In 50 games, the Toms River (New Jersey) native has 35 points (four goals, 31 assists), 14 penalty minutes and is a minus-five. Dineen will be a restricted free agent at the end of the season.
