Sharks place former first-round pick on waivers; Panthers put pair of goalies on the wire

According to Sportsnet's Chris Johnston, the San Jose Sharks have placed recently signed defenceman and former first-round pick Derrik Pouliot on waivers.

Pouliot, the eighth overall pick of Pittsburgh in 2012, signed with the Sharks on Thursday for the remainder of the 2022-23 season. He was previously on an AHL contract with their affiliate, the San Jose Barracuda.

In 26 games this season for the Barracuda, the Estevan (Saskatchewan) native has 18 points (two goals, 16 assists), 42 penalty minutes and is a minus-seven.

Johnston also added that the Florida Panthers have placed goaltenders J-F Berube and Evan Fitzpatrick on waivers. Both players were on AHL contract, but have been signed to one-year deals for the remainder of the 2022-23 season.

Berube, 31, has appeared in eight game for the Charlotte Checkers this season, where he has a record of 4-2-1 with a 2.84 GAA and a .901 save percentage.

Fitzpatrick, 25, has spent the season in the ECHL with the Florida Everblades. In 12 games, he has a record of 8-3-0 with a 2.68 GAA and a .907 save percentage.
