The Boston Bruins continued their busy Thursday morning by announcing a contract extension for star forward David Pastrnak. Pastrnak's new contract, which kicks in for the 2023-24 season, will run for eight-years and see him earn $11.25 million per season.

TSN's Darren Dreger adds that for the first five-years of Pastrnak's contract, he'll have a full no-movement clause and in the final three-years, it has a modified no-trade clause.

According to Daily Faceoff's Frank Seravalli, Pastrnak's new deal will be the sixth-largest active contract in the NHL, in terms of total dollars. Shea Weber ($110 million), Sidney Crosby ($104.4 million), Nathan MacKinnon ($100.8 million), Connor McDavid ($100 million) and Erik Karlsson ($92 million) are the current top-five.

Pastrnak, 26, has become one of the NHL's top goal scorers over the course of his career and is only eight goals shy of putting up 50 for the first time. So far this season, the Havirov (Czechia) native has 80 points (42 goals, 38 assists), 32 penalty minutes and is a plus-27.

Contract talks began in September, between the Bruins and Pastrnak's camp, but began to pick up steam in January and progressed to the point where we stand today. It was a foregone conclusion that the former first-round pick was going to get an eight-year deal from the Bruins, but the AAV was a bit of a mystery, with some insiders suggesting that Pastrnak could have gotten $13 million. Ultimately, both sides settled with $11.25 million AAV, which is more than fair.

Do you think this is a fair deal for the David Pastrnak or do you think he should have gotten more than $11.25 million AAV? Have your say in the poll below.
