The Carolina Hurricanes were looking to add a defenceman before Friday's trade deadline and one of the names they've reportedly had their eye on was Arizona Coyotes defenceman Jakob Chychrun. While nothing happened on the Chychrun front, the Hurricanes and Coyotes have struck a deal for another defenceman.

According to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, the Coyotes have trade Shayne Gostisbehere to the Hurricanes in exchange for a third-round pick in the 2026 NHL Entry Draft.

Gostisbehere, 29, is in the final year of his contract and will become an unrestricted free agent on July 1st. So far this season, the Pembroke Pines (Florida) native has appeared in 52 games, putting up 31 points (ten goals, 21 assists), 28 penalty minutes and is a minus-six.

Who do you think won this deal? Have your say in the poll below! Don't forget to stay tuned to Markerzone.com for full trade deadline coverage leading up to 3 p.m. ET on Friday.
