One of the top prospects in the upcoming NHL entry draft found himself in the stands for a recent game after getting in hot water with his team. Leo Carlsson, who is slated to go in the top 5 picks in 2023, and possibly as high as top 3, admits he has missed the start of multiple meetings recently after oversleeping. As a result, he was a healthy scratch for Orebro's recent game against Växjö in the SHL.

"He has trouble keeping appointments and didn't show up on time yesterday. The reason he didn't play was because he was late. I won't say more," said his coach Niklas Eriksson.

"Of course I'm ashamed," said Carlsson when asked about it. "Especially when you're not allowed to play, and it gets so big in the media and stuff. I know I've done wrong, but it can seem like more than it is."

"It's not that it's happened ten times, but a few times I've been too late. It hasn't been too often, but at the same time I know it's not okay," Carlsson added.

Carlsson, 18, has 9 goals and 22 points in 40 games this season. Already six-foot-three and close to 200 lbs., he's being compared to Anze Kopitar in his style of play and could go top 3 behind Connor Bedard and Adam Fantilli in the NHL entry draft. While oversleeping a few times may seem minor, there's no doubt teams are paying attention and want to make sure anyone they draft is mature and accountable. Carlsson is expected to play Thursday night against Brynas.
