According to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, the Colorado Avalanche have acquired veteran forward Lars Eller from the Washington Capitals.

Friedman added that in return, the Capitals will receive a second-round pick in the 2025 NHL Entry Draft and are retaining 31% of Eller's salary.

Eller, 33, was in his seventh season with the Capitals after being traded to them in 2016 by the Montreal Canadiens. The Rodovre (Denmark) native played a key role for the Capitals in 2018, scoring the Stanley Cup-winning goal against the Vegas Golden Knights in Game Six, giving Washington their first championship in franchise history.

In 60 games this season, Eller has 16 points (seven goals, nine assists), 36 penalty minutes and is a minus-one. He's set to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1st.
