According to Colorado Avalanche head coach Jared Bednar, Cale Makar is once again in concussion protocol. This marks Makar's second concussion in an 11-day span.

"Bednar confirms that, once again, Cale Makar is in concussion protocol and he will miss this weekends games. Delayed response to symptoms like last time. They will continue to monitor him."

The first incident transpired against the Pittsburgh Penguins, when opposing center Jeff Carter's shoulder made contact with Makar's head (some believe intentionally).

The second incident happened against the St. Louis Blues on Saturday. Makar and Blues forward Alexei Toropchenko collided, with the latter's hand impacting Makar's head. He was pulled briefly but returned.

Makar's timeline is currently unknown. As we all know, this particular brand of injury is unlike any other in that you can't just nurse someone's brain back to full health. The only treatment is time and rest.

Further aggravation puts Makar at risk of life-long complications, so the best course of action is an abundance of caution. One will remember Sidney Crosby, who has missed 114 NHL games due to concussion-related symptoms.
