Now that Bo Horvat has been traded, the focus in Vancouver shifts to the rest of the locker room. Who's next to go? Who's the next captain? Who is part of the future and who isn't?

All questions facing management as the club drudges onward. Apparently, at least one Canuck doesn't want to stick around much longer...

According to TSN's Farhan Lalji, there are rumblings from people close to the situation that goaltender Thatcher Demko doesn't want to stay in Vancouver. Elliotte Friedman recently posed the question of Demko being made available, and it sounds like that could very well be a possibility this season or maybe over the summer.

There has been an exodus of high-profile American NHLers from Canadian markets the past few years, so this rumor about Demko isn't totally farfetched. Factor the American/Canadian relationship and combine it with the current state of affairs within the Canucks' organization, and this rumor sounds a lot more sensible.

The one wrench in a possible Demko trade, is that the Canucks' goaltender is expected to sit on the injured list for at least three more weeks, likely more. The NHL Trade Deadline is just over a month away, which gives Vancouver a slim window in which to get a deal done.

Which makes it more likely that something happens over the summer, but you never know. Lots of teams have a need for a starting goaltender, especially one as talented as Thatcher Demko. Plus, he's signed at $5 million through the 2025-26 season, which makes him extra attractive to other teams.

In that sense, a team could take the plunge and send a package to Vancouver that gets a deal done before March 3rd.
