Brendan Shanahan, President of the Toronto Maple Leafs, is an old school guy, which means he can - at times - be reluctant to change. He apparently has two rules that he is unwilling to change.

According to Maple Leafs TikTok-er, Hockey Illuminati, Shanahan refuses to change the team's goal song, and he has prohibited beer from the team's locker room.

The former is most evident in the fact that, well, Dreams Come True by Hall & Oates still plays after every Maple Leafs goal at home. The latter is more so evident in the video of the celebration of Mitch Marner's record-setting point streak, in which the team showered him with water.

It's more or less a tradition to shower a teammate in beer on such an occasion. See: Steven Stamkos' 500-goal celebration.

Given what we've seen in Vancouver recently with Canucks' President Jim Rutherford, it's not super unusual to see a team President take such a hands-on approach with his club. But these two rules do seem odd, especially when one considers what fans and players might want.

The beer thing kind of makes sense, as it could sent the wrong message with regards to nutrition and things like that. But the goal song aspect is puzzling.
