Winnipeg Jets center Pierre-Luc Dubois is an arbitration-eligible restricted free agent after this season, and according to analyst Nick Kypreos, he is very, very unlikely to re-sign with the Jets.

Per Kypreos' report, 'not even a Stanley Cup' would keep Dubois in Winnipeg, and he added that Dubois wants to play in Montreal.

While Kypreos' report has yet to be substantiated, it has long been speculated that Dubois wants to play for his hometown team. Even since his debacle in Columbus, where he requested to be traded, many folks suspected his motives ultimately led to the Habs.

Recently Dubois launched his youth foundation in Montreal, which only fueled the speculation. Similar to how Matthew Tkachuk handled his situation in Calgary last season, it's entirely plausible Dubois muscles his way out of Winnipeg to Montreal.

Dubois is having a career season in Winnipeg this season, to boot, so a payday is most certainly in order this summer. With 51 points in 49 games for the Jets this season, he is on pace to smash his career high of 61 set in his sophomore season with the Blue Jackets.

Regardless of one's feelings on Dubois, one cannot deny how great of a fit he would be with the Canadiens. He and Nick Suzuki up the middle for years to come could be special.

I wonder if the Jets try to pluck Kirby Dach from the Habs in return...
