During his 'Market Rumblings' segment on The Fourth Period, David Pagnotta revealed that the Detroit Red Wings and Dylan Larkin are far apart in contract talks, with the captain set to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1st.

"He has made it clear publicly that he wants to stay in Detroit beyond this season, and without question the Red Wings would like to get him locked up to an extension. But multiple sources told me earlier today that the two sides remain far apart in negotiations." Pagnotta said.

He went on to add, "The Red Wings recently presented Larkin's camp with a new offer – believed to have been presented this week – and it was «not received well,» one source said."

Larkin, 26, is having another strong year with the Red Wings and is producing at nearly a point-per-game pace. In 43 games, he's put up 41 points (15 goals, 26 assists), 12 penalty minutes and is a plus-four.

The Waterford (Michigan) native is certainly looking for more than the $6.1 million AAV he's earning on his current contract, but it's unclear where his next deal will come in at, possibly in the $7.5-8 million range.

But will that contract be signed with the Red Wings or another team if Larkin hits the open market on July 1st? Let us know what you think will happen with Dylan Larkin in the poll below!
