I wouldn't exactly call it a direct shot at his former coach, but David Krejci says the Boston Bruins' room feels different this season, and a recent coaching change is a big reason for it.

"The record speaks for itself," said Krejci Monday, referring to the Bruins outstanding 34-5-4 record so far this season. "I feel this could be a special year. We know what we have in the room, we don't take it for granted, and we'll see how it goes."

"Obviously, the coaching change helped a lot," he continued. "We're obviously feeling good."

While Krejci took a season off from the NHL last year to play at home, Bruce Cassidy served as his head coach in Boston in the previous seasons. Cassidy was canned after Boston was booted from the playoffs in 2021-22. Jim Montgomery was hired to take over behind the Bruins' bench, while Cassidy ended up with Vegas. Montgomery was a bit of a gamble for Boston. He was fired from the Dallas Stars in 2019 for unprofessional conduct "egregious enough to demand Montgomery's immediate firing." He then checked himself into rehab for alcohol abuse. The gamble has paid off huge for Bruins GM Don Sweeney, with everyone talking about how much the players enjoy playing under Montgomery. And, as Krejci stated, the results speak for themselves. It's pretty clear Krejci is happy with the change.
