You can perhaps forgive the New York Rangers somewhat for their frustration Sunday night. The team is way ahead of the Montreal Canadiens in the standings and were likely counting on a win. That didn't happen as the Habs defeated the Rangers 2-1, and it seems Jacob Trouba wanted to make sure to dish out some physical punishment if he couldn't do it on the scoreboard.

Montreal's Joel Armia was skating up the ice with the puck when he met up with with Trouba near the blueline. Trouba was thinking hit, as you can see in the video, but Armia turns to get away. Trouba then extended his elbow and caught Armia in the side with a hard shot that clearly left him in some discomfort.

There was no call on the play, which is surprising for many. It's difficult to view this as anything other than 100 percent intentional. Trouba is a guy that can dish out punishing, clean hits when he wants to. This one wasn't one of them.
