Some sad news to report on in the hockey world on Sunday evening as former National Hockey League forward Gino Odjick has passed away at the age of 52.

Odjick spent parts of 12 seasons in the National Hockey League with the Vancouver Canucks, New York Islanders, Philadelphia Flyers and Montreal Canadiens, recording a staggering 2,567 penalty minutes in 605 games.

In 2014, Odjick was diagnosed with a rare condition called Amyloidosis, which occurs when a protein called amyloid builds up in organs. It had been attacking his organs as well as his heart.

Our thoughts are with the Odjick family at this difficult time.
