The London Knights are not pleased with a hockey insider for reporting a trade involving one of their players that never happened. According to the London Knights, the trade was never even discussed.

On Sunday, Ken Campbell reported that he was hearing that Shane Wright had been traded to London for six draft picks and young defensive prospect Oliver Bonk. That trade never happened, and Wright was eventually sent to the Windsor Spitfires. Knights associate GM Rob Simpson told CTV the report had an impact on the team and on Bonk.

"That was really disappointing because we never had discussions about him being involved in that deal," said Simpson.

"He's too important of a player to our organization right now and a quality person and that was difficult to see."

Simpson said Bonk himself was really worried after reading the report.

"I spoke to him up in Sault Ste. Marie because he picks up his phone after the game and sees that he's maybe going to Windsor, which was never the case," Simpson said. "So you know, that's something that's a bit disappointing with the trade deadline is how people just throw names and have no facts to back it up."

Simpson said he's fine with insiders reporting trades, adding it's part of the game. However, he said stressing out young players for no reason is "just not fair".

After the Wright deal went through, Campbell defended his earlier tweet saying he stressed that the deal was unconfirmed.
