Earlier on Tuesday, the Dallas Stars locked up Roope Hintz to an eight-year contract extension which will see him in 'Victory Green' until the conclusion of the 2022-23 season. It shows that the team is fully focused on the future, but they're also looking to capitalize on their hot start to the 2022-23 season and potentially add a piece or two before the trade deadline on March 3rd.

The start of their seasom, as mentioned, has been very good and as of today (November 29th), the Stars lead the Central Division with a record of 13-6-4 through 23 games.

While the NHL's trade deadline is still 94 days away, the Stars are reportedly on the lookout for a top-six forward to inject into their lineup, according to TSN's Darren Dreger.

"Back to Dallas for a moment. The Hintz extension is an indication of looking after their long-term future in Dallas. But the Stars' Christmas wish list could also provide a luxury item for those up front," Dreger said.

He added, "They like what they have. They like the way things are going in Dallas right now. It's hard not to. But they'd also like to add a forward to play with Tyler Seguin and Mason Marchment. It sounds like a tall ask. They do like this up there, but that top-six luxury item is definitely something Dallas is in the market for."

More options for Dallas will open up in the weeks leading up to the trade deadline, but as preliminary look right now, some of the options for them could be Max Domi (Chicago Blackhawks), Anthony Duclair (Florida Panthers), Sean Monahan (Montreal Canadiens) or Kasperi Kapanen (Pittsburgh Penguins), just to name a few.
