2022 has been a year of ups and downs for Detroit Red Wings defenceman Mark Pysyk. He underwent surgery to repair his Achilles in July and also signed a one-year contract with Detroit worth $850,000 during the same month.

Due to the recovery from his injury, Pysyk has get to play for the Red Wings and it doesn't look like he may play for them at all this season.

According to Frank Seravalli of Daily Faceoff, Pysyk has reinjured the same Achilles he had surgery on this summer. He was working his way back and hoping to play for Detroit at some point this season. There is no updated timeline for his recovery as of yet.

The 30-year-old spent last season with the Buffalo Sabres, putting up 12 points (three goals, nine assists), 16 penalty minutes and was a minus-four in 68 games.

This is a tough blow for Pysyk and we wish him all the best in his recovery.
