According to TSN's Chris Johnston, the Detroit Red Wings have claimed goaltender Magnus Hellberg off waivers from the Seattle Kraken.

This is the third time Magnus Hellberg has been claimed off waivers since October 3rd. On October 3rd, he was claimed by Ottawa from Seattle, on November 10th he was claimed by Seattle from Ottawa and then today, claimed by the Red Wings from Seattle.

The 31-year-old is no stranger to Detroit. After spending the 2021-22 season in the KHL with HC Sochi and playing for Sweden at the Olympics, the Red Wings signed him in mid-April for the remainder of the year. He went on to appear in one game for the Red Wings before becoming an unrestricted free agent in July and signing a one-year deal with the Kraken.

Hellberg, a native of Uppsala, has only appeared in one game this season and that was for Ottawa, where he earned the win and had a 2.00 GAA and a .935 save percentage.

In other waivers related news, Wayne Simmonds (Toronto) and Zach Sanford (Nashville) have both cleared and been assigned to their respective American Hockey League clubs.
