Claude Julien - former coach of the Montreal Canadiens, Boston Bruins, and New Jersey Devils - is headed to Europe for his next gig. HC Ambrì-Piotta of the Swiss National League has announced Julien will be joining the team for two weeks to share his knowledge and experience with staff and players.

Julien has not worked in the NHL since being fired by Montreal in February of 2021. That is when Dominque Ducharme took over behind the Habs bench. Ducharme has since been canned as well, with Martin St. Louis becoming Montreal's head coach. Oddly enough, Montreal's last four coaches - Julien, Ducharme, Michel Therrien, and Randy Cunneyworth - never returned as NHL head coaches after being fired by the Canadiens.

Julien is said to be close friends with René Matte, who is with Ambri-Piotta's coaching staff. French is one of the main languages spoken in Switzerland.

Julien will be with the team from September 18th to 28th.
