Owen Power made his NHL debut last spring, and he looked right at home from day one. The 2021 #1 overall pick appeared in 8 games for Buffalo last season, scoring 3 points. A staggering 6'6'', Power is a great lumbering beast out there, but his skating allows him to mobilize far more gracefully than you would first expect. Blessed with size, skating, and great puck still, Power is on track to become the next top defender in the NHL.

Teammate Kyle Okposo saw Power up close last season in his short tenure, and the veteran had some serious praise for the young blue-liner. With 909 NHL games under his belt, Okposo knows a thing or two about having success in the league, and he sees Power having huge upside, equating him to Erik Karlsson in his prime.

"He's got a lot of young Erik Karlsson in him...Owen has similarities in how he plays."

On top of being nearly 7-feet tall on skates, Power's ability turn stellar defense into quick offense is what makes him such a strong defender. In 59 games for Michigan, Power posted 48 points with an impressive +45 rating. If he continues to develop on his current trajectory, Buffalo will have at least one perennial Norris candidate on the roster for the foreseeable future.

And if Rasmus Dahlin continues trending in the right direction, they may have two. Although, as a betting man, I would buy more stock in Power than in Dahlin.
