Jack Rodewald, a former NHLer now playing in Russia's KHL, has been suspended after a brutal headshot during a game on Friday. The 28-year-old forward, now playing for Kunlun Red Star, plowed into Vyacheslav Litovchenko of Novosibirsk Sibir about five minutes into the third period. Here's video of the hit. Rodewald was given a five-minute major and booted from the game.

The KHL has now announced that Rodewald has been suspended for two games and fined an undisclosed amount.

For anyone unfamiliar with Rodewald, he was involved in the private group chat scandal that led to forward Brendan Leipsic getting dropped from the Washington Capitals and subsequently signing in the KHL. The leaked chat texts showed the two made disparaging remarks about the appearances of the wife of Vancouver Canucks forward Tanner Pearson and the girlfriend of Edmonton Oilers star Connor McDavid, while also making sexual remarks about other women. Rodewald's 10 games in the NHL all came with the Ottawa Senators.
