The NHL notified all 32 clubs today that the league will return to pre-pandemic media regulations, meaning the likelihood of Flyers' head coach getting into a screaming match with a reporter just went up about 500%. Per Jim Thomas of the Post Dispatch, the league sent out a memo ordering that locker rooms and all active players must be made available following games and practices.

Since the pandemic, access to players and coaches has been limited relative to the norm, so this is great news for your friendly neighborhood hockey blogger and fan alike. Emotions are typically highest post-game, which means we will be getting more drama, more content, and a better look into what is going on in the locker room of our favorite clubs.

Hopefully, this has no effect on the spread of germs or anything and can work solely as a content boost. The NHL is desperate to drum up new revenue streams, and the content business is one they should pursue full-throttle.

A proven method of drawing new interest is the drama behind-the-scenes, the storylines, a reason to get invested in a player or team. This re-opens the door for a lot of those storylines that fans love to discuss among each other. Word-of-mouth is the best way to grow a business, and this small piece of news will have a major role in generating buzz during the season.
