A investigation has been launched after a youth hockey coach was accused of assaulting a student with enough force that it left bruising on the 10-year-old. According to reports, the coach was attempting to break up an argument between two of his pupils in Moscow's western district when he allegedly hit one of them with a stick.

"The incident occurred during a training session on August 15 around 12 noon. A child got into an argument with another student about whose turn it was to do the exercise. The boys started pushing each other and ended up falling on the ice. When the coach noticed the scuffle, he drove up, broke the kids up, and then hit the one lying on top with a stick," said Sport24.ru.

Paramedics recorded a large bruise on the boy's buttocks despite the fact that he was wearing all of his equipment at the time. There was also bruising on other parts of his body.

The boy's parents claim the coach is well-known for being very strict, and also claim their child was a frequent target of his anger. No word yet on whether any charges will be laid.
