Per a report by Charlie Roumeliotis of NBC Sports-Chicago, Stanley Cup-winning defenseman Jack Johnson is signing a one-year contract worth $950,000:

Few garner the objective, league-wide support that Jack Johnson does. After his family stole millions from him, Johnson has the sympathy and support of just about every hockey fan following the NHL. Having faced the ultimate betrayal, the veteran defender has earned another chance to earn NHL money, even if it is a minimal amount by league standards.

What can I say about Johnson's game at this stage...let's see. Jack Johnson is a defenseman. One who has played a lot of hockey in his career and frankly will fit right into the 2022-23 Chicago Blackhawks' dressing room. I shan't mince words, this team is set to stink out loud, as they fully embrace the Connor Bedard tank show.

Chicago has $7.5 million left in cap space, and since they are no where close to competing, it would surprise me if one--or both--of Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews are still Blackhawks come next summer. Both players are publicly against the direction management has taken and are watching the situation closely. AKA their agents are likely calling GM Kyle Davidson several times each day to find a trade.
