Swedish head coach Tomas Monten turned to Anaheim Ducks prospect Calle Clang for the start against the Austrians, giving Jesper Wallstedt a day off. The Austrians countered with Sebastian Wraneschitz, who is making his second start of the tournament, losing 4-2 to Germany on Wednesday.
The Swedes were all over Austria early on in the period, as expected, but it took them nearly thirteen minutes to get on the board. Detroit Red Wings prospect Simon Edvinsson had the puck at the point, walked in a bit and fired it far side on Wraneschitz through a screen to make it 1-0 Sweden.

Early in the second period, Sweden was on the powerplay and 59 seconds in, Buffalo Sabres prospect Isak Rosen one-timed the puck home following a solid pass from Fabian Lysell to extend the lead to 2-0.

Swedish captain Emil Andrae extended his nation's lead to 3-0. Isak Rosen forced a turnover and stripped the Austrian defenceman of the puck, then passed it far side to Andrae, who when short side on Wranschitz.

Shortly after, Andrae added his second of the game on the powerplay. The Flyers prospect had the puck at the point and threw it on net through a double screen and it beat Wraneschitz clean, giving Sweden a 4-0 lead.

Approaching the half-way point of the third period, Sweden was back on the powerplay and from the goal line, Fabian Lysell put the puck off Wraneschitz's helmet and under the bar to make it 5-0.

In the dying seconds of the game, Red Wings prospect Theodor Niederbach got the puck from Oskar Olausson and was alone in the slot where he ripped the puck past Wraneschitz's blocker to give Sweden a 6-0 lead.
Sweden went on to take the three points by a score of 6-0 and improve to 2-0-0-0 in the tournament, while Austria now falls to 0-0-0-2. Tre Kronor will be back in action on Sunday night against the United States and Austria will battle the United States in less than 24 hours.
