It can be taken as a sign that things aren't going the way he expected during free agency. Defenceman John Klingberg, a player many assumed would be under a new contract by now, has changed agents while still waiting to sign a new deal.

"I'm told free agent defenseman John Klingberg has parted ways with longtime agent Peter Wallen. Klingberg is now being represented by Newport Sports Management. - Frank Seravalli, Daily Faceoff

Wallen represents some very recognizable names in the NHL, including Victor Hedman, Gabriel Landeskog, Jonas Brodin, Elias Lindholm, and others. The combined average annual value of all his clients his $44.5 million. Newport Sports Management has some equally big names in players such as Erik Cernak, Ben Chiarot, Phil Danault, and Matt Dumba.

While there's no exact reason given for the sudden change, it's pretty easy to draw valid conclusions from this. Klingberg was expected to be one of the hottest agents on the open market. It's been three weeks since signings have been allowed, and he is still without a new team. The Dallas Stars are the only NHL club the 29-year-old Swede has ever played with.
