Just weeks after losing Johnny Gaudreau via free agency, the Calgary Flames appear set to lose another star forward in Matthew Tkachuk.

There have been several reports coming out on Wednesday that Tkachuk has informed Flames management that he is not interested in signing a long-term deal with the club, making the trade likely and according to many, imminent. On Wednesday morning, an article in The Athletic suggested that the 24-year-olds preferred destinations are the St. Louis Blues, Vegas Golden Knights, Florida Panthers, Nashville Predators and the Dallas Stars. Despite that being written, however, well known Flames reporter Eric Francis insists that the list is not correct.

By no means is Francis saying that he doesn't believe Tkachuk will be moved, as he himself has stated several times that he thinks a trade will happen within the next week or two. However, it appears the list that came out earlier today is not correct, meaning many more teams may be in the running than originally thought. This will be an interesting situation to keep an eye on as the Flames will do everything in their power to get a big haul in return for what many believed would be their future captain.
