After a slightly dramatic contract negotiation, the Edmonton Oilers have re-signed F Evander Kane to a 4-year $20.5 million ($5.125 AAV) contract:

Despite his well-documented personal life, Kane was a dynamo for the Oilers last season & fit like a glove beside Connor McDavid & Leon Draisaitl. Edmonton ultimately was swept by the eventual Stanley Cup winning Avalanche, so it feels as thought there is unfinished business for the Oilers. In 58 regular season & playoff matches with the Oil, Kane scored 35 goals, 21 assists, and 97 PIMs.

There is still no date for Evander Kane's second grievance hearing with the San Jose Sharks, so no word on how his newly-signed extension affects that situation. But in any event, Kane is an Oilers for now. The signing leaves Edmonton with $9.99 million for Kailer Yamamoto, Jesse Puljujarvi, & Ryan McLeod plus any UFAs they might sign; Jack Campbell perhaps?
