After parts of four seasons with the Montreal Canadiens, defenceman Brett Kulak was moved at the trade deadline in March for defenceman William Lagesson, a 2022 second round pick and a 2024 seventh round pick.

Kulak's time with the Oilers wasn't too bad. He recorded eight points in eighteen regular season games and then followed that up with five assists in sixteen games during the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

During Tuesday's edition of Insider Trading, Pierre LeBrun mentioned that the Montreal Canadiens have interest in bringing Brett Kulak back and he believes that they will offer him a contract on Wednesday.

"They are interested in bringing him back but they won't be alone when he hits the market on Wednesday. I think there will be half a dozen teams. They saw what he brought to the Oilers in that playoff run so there will be a few bids," LeBrun said.

He added, "My sense is that the Habs are going to reach out to Kulak's camp. They really enjoyed having him, Marty St. Louis, in particular, enjoyed coaching him. I think there will be an offer from Montreal when the market opens on Wednesday."

Kulak, 28, played a strong top-four role during Montreal's run to the Stanley Cup Final in 2021 and if his time in Edmonton is any indication, he can certainly play in that role once again with the Canadiens. But as Pierre LeBrun said, there will be at least six teams interested, so if a Stanley Cup contender comes knocking, they'll more than likely be atop Kulak's list.
