The New Jersey Devils hold the second overall pick in tonight's NHL Entry Draft in Montreal, but is it possible they trade it to upgrade their roster right away for next season?

According to TSN's Darren Dreger, there is some speculation that the New Jersey Devils have been linked to Arizona Coyotes defenceman Jakob Chychrun, with the second overall pick heading back to the desert.

"Lots of speculation linking Chychrun to the 2nd pick and maybe Ottawa's 7th. Senators seem less likely because of their LD, but anything is possible. Devils could use Chychrun," Dreger said.

Chychrun, 24, has been at the center of trade rumours for months now, but an injury leading up to the deadline likely prevented anything from getting done. In 47 games this season, the 24-year-old put up 21 points (seven goals, fourteen assists), 47 penalty minutes and was a minus-20.

It would be one of the biggest draft day deals we've seen in quite a while if the Devils and Coyotes swap the second overall pick and Jakob Chychrun.
