The Minnesota Wild have signed defenseman Jacob Middleton to a 3-year extension with an AAV of $2.45 million.

The 26-year-old defenseman was traded to the Wild from the San Jose Sharks at the 2022 trade deadline in exchange for netminder Kaapo Kahkonen and a 2022 fifth-round pick.

The 6'3", 219lb defender posted 1 goal and 4 assists for 5 points and a +7 in his 21 regular season games with Minnesota. The prototypical shut down defenseman had a lone assist in his team's post season series against the St. Louis Blues.

The Minnesota Wild continue their cap-crunching offseason with this modest signing for a solid depth defenseman. He paired well with the Wild's more offensive minded defenseman. This stay-at-home, physical player allows others the freedom to pinch and lead rush plays as necessary.
