Auston Matthews Wins Ted Lindsay Award

Toronto Maple Leafs' center Auston Matthews won the 2022 Ted Lindsay Award. This award is given annually to the NHL's most outstanding player in the regular season as judged by the members of the NHL Players' Association. This is a big one for the players because it is voted by the players. Matthews is the first Maple Leaf to win this award.

In 73 games played, Matthews tallied a league leading 60 goals (Rocket Richard Trophy winner) along with 46 assists for a total of 106 points. His point total was good enough sixth in point totals in the league. Matthews improved his defensive game as well. Many believed he should have been considered for the Selke. Matthews is also a finalist for the Hart Memorial Trophy.
