The Florida Panthers were eliminated by the Tampa Lightning in the second round of the 2022 Stanley Cup playoffs after winning the President's Trophy for the best team in the regular season. The team will be looking to make some changes in the offseason, and it seems that Sergei Bobrovsky is likely on the move.

NHL insider Nick Kypreos recently reported that the Panthers are shopping goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky and would be willing to retain 50% of his contract to make a deal work. This means the team would retain $5 million of his $10 million average annual value, which is a decent cap hit for any team.

According to Washington Hockey Now's Sammi Silber, the Washington Capitals may be interested in acquiring the veteran goaltender. Apparently, Ilya Samsonov or Vitek Vanecek are likely to be moved, so he would be the replacement for one of the two.

The 33-year-old enjoyed a solid year, but with Spencer Knight being the next franchise goalie, the Panthers do not need a backup making $10 million a year. Bobrovsky went 39-7-3 with a 2.67 GAA and .913 SV%, before going 4-6-0 with a 2.70 GAA and .911 SV% in the playoffs.
