If it weren't for some terrible decisions, there's a very good chance goaltender Patrik Bartosak would be playing in the NHL right now. Unfortunately, the 29-year-old from Czechia just can't seem to stay out of the spotlight for all the wrong reasons, and Bartosek is there once again after his own father alleges he was grabbed around the throat, dragged and tossed against a door by his own son.

"We had agreed to guard my grandson. We went to pick him up," said Dusan Bartosak in an interview with Sport.Aktuality.sk . "While I was driving there, his wife's father called me to say that Patrik seemed different again and they were scared. I wondered if I would give him a fatherly talking to. I tried, but it turned out that he grabbed me under the neck, dragged me all over the corridor and threw me against the neighbour's door."

Dusan Bartosak said that happened on June 4th and he's been unable to work ever since. As for what set off the son:

"I warned him that he has a responsibility for his two children and his wife, who is coming off a recent caesarean section, and he should behave accordingly. Not like a lout and walk around every day under the influence of addictive substances," said Bartosak's father.

Bartosak was taken in the fifth round of the 2013 NHL draft by the LA Kings. Things seemed to be going well for him as he was in North America playing mostly in the AHL. However, just two games into the 2015-16 season, and Bartosek was suspended indefinitely without pay by the Kings after he was arrested on second degree assault charges in a domestic violence case against his then-girlfriend by authorities in New Hampsire. He would eventually return home to play. In 2019, after re-establishing his career as top netminder in the Czech Republic, Bartosek was arrested after being caught drunk driving. His contract with Trinec was terminated and he admitted to having personal and mental health issues that he needed to deal with. He then headed to Sweden and the KHL for short stints. He then signed last season with the Lahti Pelicans of the Finnish Elite League and played 13 games with the team. He was supposed to start next season with them. He played in four games at the Winter Olympics with Team Czechia.

Bartosek's father claimed in the article that this isn't the first time his son assaulted him, adding it would be wrong to try to cover up for him or downplay what's happening.
