The Detroit Red Wings announced on Thursday that they've agreed to terms on a three-year, entry-level contract with 6'8 prospect Elmer Soderblom.

Soderblom, 20, was selected in the sixth round (159th overall) in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft.

The Goteborg (Sweden) native spent the 2021-22 season in the SHL with Frolunda HC. In 52 games with Frolunda, Soderblom had 33 points (21 goals, twelve assists), ten penalty minutes and was a minus-ten. He added six points (three goals, three assists) in nine games.

Soderblom will more than likely start the 2022-23 season in the American Hockey League with the Grand Rapid Griffins. It's also possible he returns to Sweden, but it's unclear if his contract will include a European assignment clause in order for that to happen.
