Some very tough luck for Jade Iginla, the daughter of former NHLer Jerome Iginla. Jade was set to make her international hockey debut at the upcoming 2022 IIHF U18 Women's World Championship, but Hockey Canada has announced she'll no longer be playing.

According to a news release, Iginla was injured in a pre-tournament game against Team USA last Thursday. The news release did not say how exactly how it happened, just that it is considered an "upper-body injury" and she will miss the entire tournament.

"We are all extremely disappointed for Jade; she is a hard-working, fierce competitor and leader among our group," said Gina Kingsbury, director of hockey operations with Hockey Canada. "We are hopeful she makes a quick recovery and look forward to her having the chance to represent Canada again in the future."

Jade, 17, is a forward committed to Brown University for the 2022-23 season. She was born in British Columbia, and holds dual citizenship. Canada plays its tournament opener Monday night against Finland.
