Following the Rangers' Game 3 loss to the Lightning, Chris Kreider and Mika Zibanejad met with the media. A member of the media directed a question at Zibanejad about Ondrej Palat's game-winning goal with 0:42 remaining in the third period of Game 3, "From your perspective, what did you see there? You know, anything you look back on hindsight, and say 'Oh maybe i could've done this' ... anything at all?"

Kreider put his hand over to Zibanejad and took the question. He took the blame for the game-winning goal, and shielded his line mate from any blame.

Kredier says, "I gotta get the puck out. I'm puck watching... I didn't need to over-backcheck, and take myself that close to the paint."

This was a great display of Kreider's leadership and accountability. Despite General Manager Chris Drury promising a captain prior to the 21-22 season, head coach Gerard Gallant elected to go with six alternates this season. Kreider and Ziabanejad both wear and "A" on their jersey half of the time.
