Seth Jarvis ate a brutal body check from NYR D Jacob Trouba in Game 7. The hit sent him crawling back to the bench. A tough scene to watch, Jarvis' teammates were visibly concerned for his health, and it was obvious the team was shaken after the fact. The Rangers would win the series following their 6-2 defeat of the Hurricanes. For reference, here's the hit again:

Jarvis would not return to the game. During season exit interviews, Jarvis shared that he did not remember much from Game 7 & much of the next day:

There's no real question on the legality of Trouba's hit on Jarvis. However, on the 32 Thoughts Podcast with Elliotte Friedman & Jeff Marek, Friedman suggested there will likely be some discussion over the summer tweaking what is deemed 'legal.' Not to vilify any players but to ween out head injuries. Jarvis is simply another example of a clean hit gone bad, and it's worth posing the question, 'are these the types of plays we want in our game.'

Some might categorize this hit under good old-fashioned playoff hockey, which is fair. That has been a major component of hockey for ages. However, given the nature of brain injuries & what we know about CTE, it might be prudent to take measures strip the game of hits to the head entirely via a zero tolerance policy. Not to say that is what will happen, but just don't be shocked if it does.
