The disappointment in Calgary will sting for a while. For the first time in over three decades, NHL fans were treated to a playoff series featuring a Battle of Alberta. While the Flames did finish ahead of Edmonton in the regular season, the two teams were pretty close and this should have been a grueling battle. Instead, the Oilers pulled off a victory in five games, led by the man most consider to be the best player in the world right now, and perhaps one of the greatest ever before he finishes.

Connor McDavid not only had 12 points in the series, he also put home the final dagger with the overtime winner in game 5. He now has 26 points in the playoffs, tied with teammate Leon Draisaitl for first in that category. Getting to the second round of the playoffs was a big thing for the City of Calgary, and one of its news anchors perfectly summed up just how it feels to be Flames players right now.

"And that's our show for tonight. Thank you very much for watching," said CBC Calgary Anchor Andrew Brown following the Flames defeat.

"And remember, You can accomplish anything you set your mind to, unless Connor McDavid also wants that thing."

When it comes to hockey, it seems like this is Connor McDavid's era. Everyone else is just along for the ride.
