Torts is one of the NHL's best active coaches despite not being employed by a team. The term 'active' is used because he is very much so even though he's currently an analyst for ESPN. He's said publicly he still wants to coach, and he's said it multiple times. With several NHL clubs in need of a head coach, Tortorella has to be near the top of the list with the likes of Barry Trotz, Claude Julien & to a lesser extent Pete Deboer.

At least one team has been linked to Tortorella so far, but it's more likely than not there's others lying in wait. The Philadelphia Flyers are rumored to be in touch with & in search of Tortorella's services:

Strickland, a reporter for Bally Sports covering the St. Louis Blues, reports that the two sides are 'linked.' That is obviously quite vague, but as they met with Barry Trotz less than a week ago, it's clear they are in the interviewing process. The Flyers have had a terrible stretch recently under President & GM Chuck Fletcher & former President Bobby Clarke. They were expected to compete for a playoff spot but instead were a lottery team. Pretty serious miss, if you ask me. It's clear the team needs changes, and Tortorella would certainly get the ball rolling. However, their team clearly lacks talent, so it's difficult to assume Torts would come in & solve their problems.
