Sam Girard Out for Playoffs After Being Hospitalized after Hit From Barbashev
After a devastating hit, Sam Girard is ruled out for the remainder of the playoffs with a fractured sternum, per Elliotte Friedman.
Girard was indeed playing well, and the Avalanche will have big shoes to fill. Well, not literally. But he leaves a sizable hole on their blue line. Here was the hit in question:
The hit was clean, no doubt. So Barbashev shouldn't face any supplemental discipline, but we will find out tomorrow for sure. Hoping for a speedy recovery for Girard.
